Meeting Stringent Flame and Smoke Requirements with PMF

Polymer Technologies Inc's POLYDAMP Melamine Foam

Heat pumps and air conditioners work best when protected with an extra layer of foam to ward off any thermal dangers that might occur as a natural part of functionality. Recent updates to UL-60335-2-40 deal with the safety of electric heat pumps, sanitary hot water heat pumps, and air conditioners, which require materials to meet more stringent flame, smoke, and relative thermal index requirements.

Our unique insulation foams have always been top quality and met industry standards. With the adjustments made to UL-60335-2-40, we also went back to the drawing board to ensure our POLYDAMP® Melamine Foam not only retains its reliable quality but has also been enhanced to meet the new standards.

How do we accomplish that? Let’s take a look.

Our POLYDAMP® Melamine Foam

Our thermal insulation solutions are made from high-quality polymers to help mitigate heat conduction, convection, and radiation. We offer a wide variety of options, but the best choice for your thermal needs to meet the top standards is our POLYDAMP® Melamine Foam (PMF).

POLYDAMP® Melamine Foam is an extremely lightweight insulation material that exhibits exceptional resistance to heat, low flame propagation, and smoke. It possesses excellent thermal and acoustical insulation properties.

This particular foam is especially useful in the aerospace, mass transit, and industrial industries due to its lack of drip in the presence of a flame. It stops burning as soon as it is removed from the initial ignition source, which is handy when applying it to products such as geothermal heat pumps.

We also offer facing and adhesive options for our foam in the hopes that it better serves a variety of customers. Whether you need an aluminum foil film or adhesive backing, our foam can provide you with the proper tools to keep everything above board and working perfectly to meet industry requirements.

Meeting Stringent Standards Is Our Top Priority

Polymer Technologies has been in business since 1989, which means we are no strangers to industry standards changing over time.

Our melamine foam engineers constantly evaluate industry safety standards to ensure that they stay up-to-date with stringent smoke and flame regulations. We do this by testing our products against the toughest heat situations to ensure they meet the standards necessary to keep everyone safe.

Putting a Focus on Thermal Safety

Everything we put out into the world meets the necessary standards and regulations and is also designed with consumer safety in mind. We know that the businesses coming to us for foam solutions need our help to keep their equipment safe.

Heat and thermal challenges can quickly become problems if not properly monitored or managed. At any given time, a heat pump can overheat, start to smoke, and even catch fire. This can turn into a completely devastating event. That is unless you think ahead and find proper solutions before the challenge even arises.

Adding a layer of protection in the form of our POLYDAMP® Melamine Foam is the solution for not only your equipment but also your business and employees. As we’ve stated above, our foam is ahead of the industry standards and requirements, not just barely making the grade.

We put a lot of time, effort, and care into the creation of our foams to ensure they are always up-to-code. Polymer Technologies wants our customers to trust our products because they know we see safety challenges and far exceed their expectations when it comes to creating proper solutions.
